In my series, “Forgotten Dreams,” I explore the essence of human experience through black and white drawings of women, focusing on the profound narratives conveyed by their hands and vessels. By emphasizing these elements, I delve into the stories they tell, revealing the impact of touch and action.
The bodies of the women are fragmented, erased, or scratched, symbolizing the complexity of memory and identity. Each figure is a collage of several bodies intertwined, blurring the lines between individuality and interconnectedness. The hands, in particular, play a crucial role, conveying a spectrum of emotions and actions—creating, destroying, remaking, pressing, hitting, and loving. They serve as vessels of expression, revealing the inner workings of the psyche and the intricacies of human relationships.
As the figures fade into the background, they become reminiscent of fleeting memories, evoking a sense of nostalgia and introspection. Through this series, I invite viewers to contemplate the fragmented nature of existence and the enduring power of memory to shape our perceptions of self and others.
